Dear participants and guests of the Forum,
The Russia-EU cooperation in the field of science and technology has a long history and is constantly evolving. Russia's objective to modernize its economy has given new urge to this cooperation. In particular, during the last two EU-Russia summits that took place in Stockholm and Rostov-on-Don, the leaders of the EU and the Russian Federation came to the agreement to strengthen cooperation aimed at diversity of the Russian economy and its further development in line with the innovative approach known as Partnership for Modernization. The Association of European Businesses in Russian Federation, which I represent, actively supports this initiative.
In May 2010, the Association of European Businesses worked out the document "Partnership for modernization and private sector" that emphasizes principal aspects of modernization and ways to their achievement.
The First International Forum - "Engineering Technologies 2010" will serve as a unique platform for the exchange of expertise in the sphere of machine building. It will by all means provide new opportunities for the Russian economy's growth and will promote further cooperation between Russia and the EU.
I wish all the guests and participants of the Forum success and I hope that this Forum will provide everyone with opportunities to establish new business contacts!
