The First International Forum "Engineering Technologies 2012"


Zhukovskiy. July 4, 2010. First International Forum "Engineering Technologies 2010", which was held from June 30, 2010 to July 4, 2010 in Zhukovskiy, Moscow region, in the territory of the Transport Exhibition Complex "Russia", Ramenskoye airfield, was crowned with success. Over 50 thousand people have visited the event.

During these five days, the domestic engineers and their foreign colleagues, representatives of government authorities, scientific community and public organizations discussed problems and development trends of the sector, demonstrated innovations, and established business contacts. For dozens of thousands of visitors the Forum was a holiday, a perfect opportunity to see current and historical military and special-purpose machines in operation.

The business program of the Forum totaled 28 conferences, round tables and seminars, over 250 speakers delivered their reports within the framework of the Forum. Over 2,600 experts from 53 countries participated in these events. Representatives of 42 foreign companies participated in the Business program of the Forum, including Glock (Austria), AVL LIST Gmbh (Austria), FM HERSTAL (Belgium), Rohde & Schwarz (Germany), MTU (Germany), Finmeccanica (Italy), Bell Labs (USA), Renault (France), EADS (France), Thales (France), SAGEM (SAFRAN group) (France), Alcatel-Lucent (France), LOM PRAHA (Czech Republic) etc.

Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation (FSMTC of Russia) and MTC subjects have organized 150 meetings and negotiations on military and technical cooperation with senior management and representatives of official delegations of military departments and industrial companies from 28 foreign countries (Azerbaijan, Algeria, Angola, Armenia, Belarus, Bangladesh, Belgium, Vietnam, Greece, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Canada, India, Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Taiwan, Peru, Syria, Ukraine, Uganda, Yemen, China, Czech Republic, Finland, France and Republic of South Africa), during which the issues of implementation of existing contacts were discussed and future plans were shaped.

Despite the fact that Forum "Engineering Technologies" was held for the first time, many companies managed to sign various documents, deals and contracts at that time. Thus, the strategic partner of the Forum, Joint-Stock Commercial Bank "Novikombank", in just three days signed cooperation agreements with seven leading enterprises of engineering industry aimed at expansion of volume and range of the Bank's services provided to companies, as well as financing of current work and priority projects and development programs.

The Exhibition Program of the Forum had four exhibitions:
- International Exhibition of Machine-Building Technologies "INTERMASH 2010";
- 4th Salon of Weapons and Military Equipment "MVSV 2010";
- International Air and Space Exhibition "AEROSPACE 2010";
- International Exhibition "Unmanned Multipurpose Vehicle Systems UVS-TECH 2010".

314 companies from 29 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and 11 foreign countries took part in the Exhibition Program: Belarus, Armenia, Ukraine, India, Jordan, France, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, United Arab Emirates.

The collective stands of Volgograd, Kurgan, Omsk, Ryazan, Saratov, Smolensk, Tula regions and Republic of Tatarstan were exhibited. The collective exposition of the àState Corporation "Russian Technologies"  consisting of 28 holding structures was exhibited for the first time ever.

The expositions were arranged in exhibition halls occupying the area of more than 6,000 sq.m. Exposition of full-scale models, military machines and non-military products of the engineering sector occupied over 3,500 sq.m. in open areas. 23 units of weapons and military machines available at the Ministry of Defense of the RF and 25 units provided by industry enterprises were demonstrated in the framework of static exposition.

During the first three days, the Demonstration Program of the Forum included dynamic expositions of weapons and military machines on a specially built range of the Transport Exhibition Complex "Russia". A special track with different types of obstacles allowed demonstrating the performance capabilities of armored and wheeled vehicles. The following innovations were exhibited: the "Wolf" line of cars produced by GAZ Group, the "Lada" offroaders, the "Ural" and "KamAZ" cargo trucks. The show on the range included BMP-3, the principal combat tank of the Russian Army T-90A, T-80U and T-90S tanks, military breakdown vehicles, armored personnel carrier BTR-80 and antiaircraft weapons system "Buk M-12". Beside that, the historical models of World War II were demonstrated, namely, tank Ò-34 and "Katyusha".

During the days of mass attendance, the large-scale theatrical show of military equipment and machines called "Unbeatable and Legendary" was carried out on the range. Initially, two programs per day were planned, but because of feverish demand for tickets, the additional third show was carried out on Saturday. Over 60 thousand visitors could see the "dancing tanks show" during weekend in all.

According to the results of quick exit polls held on the tribunes on Sunfday, about 80% of respondents noted that their expectations with respect to the program shown were realized in full. More than 86% of respondents said they would like see this performance once more. In total, over 90% of respondents positively appraised the Exhibition Program.

Public safety during the Forum was secured by about 1,5 thousand of police and internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. Over 300 volunteers from Moscow assisted in holding actions within the Forum.

Over 1,000 accredited journalists from 250 Russian and foreign mass media covered the work of the Forum. They used services of the press center equipped with state-of-the-art communication means and comfortable working conditions.
International Forum "Engineering Technologies 2010" received high appraisal of participants, guests, delegates and the press. The organizers are considering the possibility of a large-scale Forum in 2012.
